JInformation Card supports Apache Tomcat, Websphere and Sun Java servers

Members of the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS in Germany have set out to demonstrate InformationCard interoperability on heterogeneous platforms written using Java language to support Apache Tomcat, Sun Java servers plus Websphere Application Server platforms running on Linux or Windows.Known as JInformationCard, their software is meant to implement the Microsoft CardSpace (formerly InfoCard) infrastructure “on the server side, focusing on open-source Java-driven Web containers.”

Cardspace is a successor and replacement to Passport that improves on its predecessor by, among other things, storing private data on the user’s side and optionally using trusted third parties for the actual storage of authentication data.

JInformationCard is published under the BSD license. Its principals are looking for feedback. Downloads are available at SourceForge and Codeplex. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196726
